From ingredient brief to supply

A product from the range and a custom formulation can involve different work. The sequence below shows how the requirement moves through development, customer evaluation and commercial supply.

Brief, ingredient sample, finished-food sample, feedback card and commercial sample arranged as a working sequence

01. Product requirement

Identify the food, target taste and ingredient needed. An existing product, specification or reference sample can help define the request, together with the intended market.

02. Ingredient and sample development

Review a product from the range, a custom formulation, flavour-matching work or a sourced ingredient. Discuss the sample required and the work involved before agreeing timing.

03. Customer trial and feedback

Evaluate the sample in your own food base and process. Feedback establishes what met the requirement, what needs adjusting and whether another sample is needed before the product is agreed.

04. Order confirmation

Agree the product, quantity, packaging, required documents and commercial terms. The order provides the basis for production and supply planning.

05. Dispatch and delivery

Confirm dispatch timing, delivery location and transport arrangements for the order.

06. Ongoing supply

Regular supply and further formulation work can follow as the product and commercial relationship develop.

Set out the practical requirements early

Include the trial date, sample requirement and any documents needed for review. For supply, add the expected quantity, pack requirements and destination. Timing depends on the product and work involved.
